Item Title
C-20 2007-2008 Safety and Education Articulation Agreement between the School Board of Clay County, the City Council of the City of Green Cove Springs, and the Green Cove Springs Police Department
Issue/Rationale
To provide assistance in early intervention and enhance Safe Schools' efforts to all local schools, with emphasis on drug prevention at the elementary level using the program SAVE.
Recommended Action
Approve the 2007-2008 Safety and Education Articulation Agreement between the School Board of Clay County, the City Council of the City of Green Cove Springs, and the Green Cove Springs Police Department as submitted.
Financial Impact
Funding provided primarily by Safe Schools funds. An increase of $3000.00 was requested this year and, upon comparing the number of classes taught by GCSPD and OPPD, the increase was approved pending board approval. Both GCSPD and OPPD will now each receive $9000.00, an increase of $3000.00 for GCSPD. In addition, GCSPD often has to pay overtime for the officer that serves the school if the instruction day falls on the officer's day off in the work schedule rotation. OPPD has one officer dedicated to their prevention program, DARE.
